The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED™) program is a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings.
After voters approved the first of three bond measures in 2001, the Los Angeles Community College District kicked off one of the largest public-sector green-building projects in the nation. The District expects, at the close of the project, about 85 new or renovated buildings will meet LEED™ standards. The LACCD is committed to energy education and will integrate learning stations into its new buildings.
The LACCD anticipates it will have 87 LEED buildings when the building program is complete. The LEED project list.
