Dr. Jack E. Daniels III
Dr. Jack E. Daniels, III assumed his position as president of Los Angeles Southwest College (LASC) in May 2008 after serving as interim president for nearly two years. After serving for three years as president of Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield Illinois, a campus with over 20,000 students, he relocated to Los Angeles to accept the interim president position. Prior to that, he served for five years as president of the 15,000-student Central College one of five colleges within the Houston Community College System.
As interim president of LASC, Dr. Daniels is focused on making a difference. He is an award recipient for his service on the American Association of Community Colleges Board, the Texas Association of Black Personnel in Higher Education, the League for Innovation's Executive Leadership Institute and the Community College League of California's Student Service Commission where he has worked to bring about a positive change.
He currently oversees the largest design/build project of any community college in California underway at LASC, with five consecutive projects. The projects totaling approximately $77 million, will deliver four major new facilities using the fast track capability that is available under the design/build method of project delivery.
