The $6 billion Sustainable Building Program is changing the face of the nine colleges in the Los Angeles Community College District. Here are a few facts about how funds are being spent for campus projects. This list will be updated regularly.
Estimated spending for 2009: $670 million
Most recent major projects: The $10.2 million Child Development Center at Pierce College was dedicated on June 3, 2010. The $52.5 million Health, Fitness and Athletics Complex at Mission College was dedicated on February 20, 2010. The $8.1 million Child Development Center at Los Angeles Harbor College was dedicated on December 17, 2009. The $38.6 million Science and Technology building at Los Angeles City College was dedicated on December 3, 2009. The $9.8 million Child Development Center at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College was dedicated on December 1, 2009.
Construction contracts awarded in 2009: $456 million
Number of LEED buildings anticipated: 87 (2 certified LEED gold, 3 certified silver and 1 certified; 6 in certification process; 25 in construction; 8 in design). The LEED project list.
